The Popular Board Game of Checkers

Checkers is a Popular Board Game that even children can learn to play at an early age.  Although it requires some skill, the basic concept and movements can be understood beginning very early.  As a pastime game, it offers the simplicity of movements with a variety of skill levels.

Most adults cannot remember the first time they played their first game of checkers.  However, most can remember playing it with one of their parents at some point.  Having only two sides, and usually black and red colored circular objects and the movements, the players can move their 'men' forward with an overall goal to capture the opponents pieces with jumping.

When the players arrive at the opposite side of the checkered board, the opposing player must add an additional game piece atop the original game piece making it a 'King'.  At that point, the game piece can be moved in any direction including backwards.  All pieces must stay on the appropriate alternating blocks on the board as the playing continues.  In the end, the last one left having captured all of the opponent's men is declared the winner.
